Member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council Osama Al Qawasimi underlined the importance of Egypt’s role to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation, saying that the Egyptian government achieved notable success in bridging the gap of difference between the conflicting parties in the Palestinian arena.
Al-Qawasimi stressed that the current talks between Fatah and Hamas are conducted with Egyptian guarantees, saying that Egypt works seriously to end the current Palestinian division not to allow Israel’s Prime Minister to use the current situation as a pretext to undermine any political process aiming to resolve the Palestinian issue and to establish an independent Palestinian state.
Al-Qawasimi added that the current meetings aim to empower the national unity government to perform its role in the Gaza Strip in order to resolve the crises witnessed in the Gaza Strip, especially in the electricity to pave the way for lifting the restrictions imposed on Gaza.
He continued that the Egyptian government pledged to resolve the problem of the Rafah Crossing, saying that disarmament of Hamas is not on the agenda of the current round of talks between the Palestinian factions during the current period.
Al-Qawasimi stressed that Egypt exerts increasing efforts during the current period, saying that the Palestinian factions appreciate the Egyptian efforts and its guarantees to push forward the talks between Fatah and Hamas. He added that Egypt gives priority to the interest of the Palestinians because it believes that the Palestinian issue is a major priority to the Arab nation.
Al-Qawasimi expressed his optimism that the Palestinians turn currently to unify themselves and their institutions and to end a large number of problems from which the Palestinian people suffer for years.
Al-Qawasimi stressed that that there are steps that can be felt by different people, including ending or reducing the electricity crisis, and the return of staff to their workplaces and administrative structure, and address the outstanding files of the staff of the Palestinian National Authority.
Al-Qawasimi stressed that the Palestinian people are eager for peace, stability, freedom and unity. He added that they are struggling to end the humanitarian and political crises and end the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. He added that there is a siege from another side in the occupied West Bank behind roadblocks and in daily incursions and incessant arrests.
Al-Qawasimi added that it is important to have a comprehensive geographical unit in all the Palestinian territories, saying that the Palestinian people is the real guarantee of unity through the support of the Palestinian reconciliation government, and the embodiment of the parameters of national cohesion.
Al-Qawasimi praised the role performed by the Egyptian government to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation during the latest period, saying that Hamas is keen to achieve reconciliation with Fatah as soon as possible to serve the interests of the Palestinian people.
